On September 19th, 2011 I began my blogging adventure! Hard to believe it’s been 8 years! Quite a milestone and I think it calls for a blogging celebration giveaway! When I first started I had no idea what I was doing. Since then I have learned so much and met sos many people! The blogging community is such a wonderful group!

When I first started, my blog was called Prudent Living on the Home Front, perhaps you remember if you’ve been a faithful reader all these years? I was hired by a company that wanted me to write on prudent living on the home front, this included frugal tips, having a pantry, gardening and of course recipes.

August gardens

Eventually I went out on my own but the focus remained pretty much the same only the name changed to Nancy On The Home Front. When I started blogging we were living on 57 acres in Vermont raising chickens and bees and growing a large garden each year. I tried to preserve as much as I could from our garden to stock my beautiful pantry.

bulk buying, pantry, frugal tips

Now we are living in Oregon on a very small lot and trying to figure out how we can continue to grow as much of our own food as possible. If we can’t grow it ourselves then I plan to support our local CSA.

Are you looking to increase your library? The winner of the Blogging Celebration Giveaway will receive the following Six (6) books (total value over $150.00):

150 Best Ever Cast Iron Skillet Recipes by Gooseberry Patch

Living with Sheep by Chuck Wooster

Raising Chickens by Gail Damerow

Pastured Poultry Profits by Joel Salatin

You Can Farm by Joel Salatin.

Well Preserved by Eugenia Bone

To enter the giveaways just click on the Rafflecopter below.

My dream was always to have a much larger farm and raise sheep and chickens. We lived for almost twenty years in Vermont but never got around to raising sheep. I don’t think we’ll be getting into farming now but you never know what the future holds!

It’s like these books were hand picked for me. I’m a new shepherdess and I’m looking for ways to make money with poultry. I love cast iron and would like to learn more about canning

I would love to learn more about animals, homesteading and preserving our own food. I do a little now and love reading and learning. I would use them to teach my grandchildren how to do these things as well.

I have followed you for quite a few years and I vaguely remember the first name of the blog. I have learned so much over the years on your site and through you Simple Homestead Blog Hop.
The books are wonderful tools to help anyone succeed in their journey to a more self reliant lifestyle.

Wishing you many years to come!

I would like these books for my son. He just purchased some acreage and raises chickens, goats, etc. It would be nice to read how he can make a living off his farm. Also, He and his girlfriend love cooking with cast iron.

Each one of these books speaks to a little place on our little farm. The winter months allow for more reading time and I would enjoy learning from these books. Congratulations on your blogging anniversary and thanks for the giveaway.

Wendie and I are ‘book people.’ What we have learned and continue to learn comes from our ever-growing library of homesteading and recipe books. We’ve built our our garden, have created solid home businesses and are building a garden shed all from what we’ve learned.
Cheers for offering this give-away, and congrats on 8 years of blogging the word:)
